Redding COVID-19 Update

Redding COVID 19 Update
8/5/21

With what looks to be the start of the 4th wave of increased cases of COVID-19 in Redding and Connecticut due to the Delta variant, the CDC and the Connecticut Department of Public Health recommends that all Connecticut residents, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, return to wearing masks when in public indoor spaces. Redding is requiring mask wearing in all municipal buildings.

Thankfully vaccines continue to be proven safe and highly effective. Most new COVID cases that result in severe symptoms are occurring among the unvaccinated. The risk of contracting and transmitting COVID infection is far greater for the unvaccinated. Infections in those fully vaccinated tend to be mild, however in some cases fully vaccinated people who do become infected with the Delta variant can be infectious and can spread the infection to others.

The vaccine is readily available and all who are eligible should consider receiving it if they have not already done so. Many locations are offering walk-in service. It’s free. https://covidvaccinefinder.ct.gov/?query=06896
