Absentee Ballot Information for Presidential Preference Primaries April 28, 2020

ABSENTEE BALLOT INFORMATION FOR 2020 PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARIES

On Tuesday, April 28, 2020, there will be Presidential Preference Primaries for both the Democratic and Republican Parties. Voting will be held at the Redding Community Center, 37 Lonetown Road between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Electors who are enrolled in either the Democrat or Republican Party can vote in their party’s primary by absentee ballot if they are unable to appear at the required polling place during the hours of voting for any of the following reasons: active service in the armed forces; absence from the town during all hours of voting; illness; physical disability; religious tenets; or duties as a primary official at a polling place other than their own during all hours of voting.

If you are an unaffiliated voter (not enrolled in a party), you have until April 23rd, 2020 to register online or by mail OR you may enroll in a party in person until 12:00 noon on April 27th at the Office of the Registrar of Voters, Town Hall, 100 Hill Road, Redding, CT.

**VOTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REGISTER/ENROLL IN PARTY ONLINE OR BY MAIL**

17 year olds who have registered to vote and are enrolled in either the Democratic or Republican party may vote in the Primary, as long as they will turn 18 by November 3, 2020.

Absentee Ballots for the primary will be available in the Town Clerk’s Office beginning Tuesday, April 7th. An application must first be completed, and then the ballot can be issued to the applicant in person or mailed to the address indicated to on the application. A ballot cannot be issued in person to anyone other than the applicant.

Applications for Absentee Ballots may be picked up at the Town Clerk’s Office Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday or may be mailed upon request.

** WE ARE ENCOURAGING ELECTORS TO MAIL IN THEIR APPLICATIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. UPON RECEIPT, THE BALLOT WILL BE MAILED OUT TO THE VOTER. **
