In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Town of Redding prohibits any discrimination against individuals with disabilities. There is zero tolerance for any such discrimination in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all private and public places that are open to the general public.

ADA Compliance Committee
The Town of Redding is committed to equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities and is in the process of implementing an ADA Compliance Committee.
The Committee is tasked with analyzing the Town’s ADA Compliance Efforts and implement, where necessary, changes to the Town’s policies, procedures and infrastructure to ensure that they adhere to the guidelines set forth in the ADA Regulations. Specifically, the Team’s tasks include:
Provide Notice of ADA Requirements
- All public entities must provide information to applicants, participants, beneficiaries, employees and other interested parties regarding the rights and protections afforded by Title II.
Establish a Grievance Procedure
- All public entities must adopt and publish grievance procedures providing prompt and equitable resolution of grievances arising under Title II.
Conduct a Self-Evaluation
- All public entities must conduct a self-evaluation. The self-evaluation is a comprehensive review of the current policies and practices, including communications and employment.
Develop a Transition Plan
- All public entities must develop a transition plan when structural changes to existing facilities are necessary in order to make a program, service or activity accessible to people with disabilities.
ADA Complaints
This Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in employment practices and policies or the provision of services, activities, programs, or benefits by the Town of Redding.
The complaint should be in writing and contain information about the alleged discrimination such as name, address, phone number of complainant and location, date, and description of the problem. Alternative means of filing complaints, such as personal interviews or a tape recording of the complaint, will be made available for persons with disabilities upon request.
The complaint should be submitted by the grievant and/or their designee as soon as possible but no later 60 calendar days after the alleged violation to:

Within 15 calendar days after receipt of the complaint, the ADA coordinator will meet with the complainant to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions. Within 15 calendar days after the meeting the ADA coordinator will respond in writing, and, where appropriate, in a format accessible to the complainant, such as large print, Braille, or audio tape. The response will explain the position of the Town of Redding and offer options for substantive resolution of the complaint.
If the response by ADA Coordinator does not satisfactorily resolve the issue, the complaint and/or their designee may appeal the decision of the ADA Coordinator within 15 calendar days after receipt of the response to the First Selectwoman or her designee.
Within 15 calendar days after receipt of the appeal, the First Selectwoman or her designee will meet the complainant to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions. Within 15 calendar days after the meeting the First Selectwoman or her designee will respond in writing, and, where appropriate, in a format accessible to the complainant, with a final resolution of the complaint.
All written complaints received by ADA Coordinator, appeals to the First Selectwoman or their designee, and responses from the ADA coordinator and First Selectwoman or their designee will be kept by (Applicant/Developer) for at least three years.
