Dog Licenses
Pursuant to CT General Statute Sec. 22-338, all dogs over the age of 6 months must be licensed by the Town Clerk annually on or before June 30th for the period of July 1st through June 30th. Licenses will not be issued without proof of current rabies vaccination on file. The rabies expiration date can be found on the paper license issued last year. If you cannot locate it, please email townclerk@townofreddingct.org or call 203-938-2377 (Ext. 2) to verify what is on file for your dog. We do not need to see updated rabies or spay/neuter information if we already have it on file.
The license fee for a neutered/spayed dog is $8.00; the fee for an unaltered dog is $19.00. A $1.00 late fee per month will be assessed after July 1, 2023.
New Dogs: When licensing a dog for the first time, please provide proof that the dog has been neutered or spayed, as well as a valid rabies certificate. Click here for Dog License Application.
Renewals: There are 3 ways to renew your dog’s license:
Online (renewals only): From June 1st through August 31st, residents can renew their dog license and securely pay fees by charge card online at: https://searchiqs.com/iqsdogrenewal/?cc=CTRED
To renew online, you must have previously registered your dog in 2022 (you will need to enter last year’s tag number) and the rabies certificate must be up to date. Updated rabies certificates can be emailed to townclerk@townofreddingct.org. Once the record is updated, you will be able to renew online.
Please note there is an additional charge of $2.35 per dog licensed online ($1.75 service fee and $0.60 postage). After processing by the Town Clerk’s Office, the license and tag will be mailed to you.
By mail: Send a check for the correct fee, current rabies certificate and proof of spay/neuter, if applicable, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

Redding Center, CT 06875-1028
In person: Licenses can be picked up in person at the Town Clerk’s Office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
