The working group began with a proposal by Angelica Fontanez to fund an increase in hours for the social worker on her staff from part time to full time. The change would require benefits to be added to the compensation package.

The second proposal that was reviewed was related to a letter requesting a grant from the United Way of Western Ct that operates a program for the A.L.I.C.E. population (Assets Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). During the discussion Julia Pemberton and Angelica suggested that the Town, under Angelica’s supervision, could be able to administer a program for Redding residents that would be carefully focused on meeting the particular needs of families in need in response to the negative impact of Covid They would return with more details on that proposal.

The third proposal that was reviewed was from Fire District #1 which requested funding for a dry hydrant to be constructed in the pond on Route 107 across from the Elementary School. This hydrant would allow pumper trucks to quickly obtain water needed to fight fires, a particular need should a fire occur in the school or at the other large structures nearby on Route 107.
