Board of Selectmen Meeting
Monday, June 18, 2018
7:30 p.m., Redding Community Center

MINUTES

Present: Julia Pemberton, First Selectman; Peg O’Donnell, Selectman; Michael Thompson, Selectman.

Also present: member of the public; reporter.

1. Call to Order

The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m.

2. Approval of Minutes

On the motion of P. O’Donnell and the second of M. Thompson, the Board voted unanimously to approve the 6/11/18 Special Meeting Minutes.

On the motion of M. Thompson and the second of P. Donnell, the Board voted unanimously to move Agenda Item 6 to Agenda Item 3.

3. Appointment to WPCC

Kirby Klump was introduced to the Board. He provided information regarding his background and was thanked for choosing to participate on the WPCC.

On the motion of P. O’Donnell and the second of M. Thompson, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Mr. Klump to the WPCC.

Mr. Klump was advised that a confirmation letter will be sent and he can be sworn in as early as tomorrow at the Town Hall.

4. Executive Session: discussion of attorney client privileged legal advice memo from Town Attorney.

On the motion of P. O’Donnell and the second of M. Thompson, the Board voted unanimously to go into Executive Session with Attorney M. LaVelle at 7:37 p.m.

The Board came out of Executive Session at 8:30 p.m. No votes were taken.

5. Public Comment

No items.

6. Discussion of Land Use Coordinator Position

First Selectwoman Pemberton reported on the proposed combination of WEO/ZEO with Land Use Coordinator into a Land Use Director position. The job will be posted internally, however, there is an internal candidate. The draft job description will be reviewed by the Board for further discussion.

J. Pemberton noted that additional funds will be available for Planning consultants. Planning and Zoning Commissions will remain separate with applications beginning at the Land Use Office. Higher efficiency is noted with use of online applications.

7. Executive Session: to discuss performance of certain zoning/wetlands, police department employees and employee compensation.

On the motion of P. O’Donnell and the second of M. Thompson, the Board voted unanimously to go into Executive Session at 8:42 p.m.

The Board came out of Executive Session at 9:10 p.m. No votes were taken.

On the motion of M. Thompson and the second of P. O’Donnell, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 9:11 p.m.
