BOARD OF SELECTMEN
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, August 3, 2016
10:00 AM
TOWN HALL CONFERENCE ROOM
PRESENT
Pemberton, Karvelis, Thompson (by phone)
The First Selectman called the meeting to order at 10:07 am.
The Selectmen discussed a request by the Mark Twain Library to permit banner signage to be placed on and next to an overflow tent at the Redding Community Center for the duration of the Book Fair. Last year the tent did not have signage and many people didn’t realize that there were also books for sale in the tent. Signage will help.
The First Selectman explained that this issue is coming before the Board of Selectmen because the zoning regulations require it. Section 5.9.6: Municipal Signs. States: “The Board of Selectmen shall approve any proposed sign design, shall authorize placement upon municipal property, and shall approve any content prior to its being included on the sign. The size and design of such signs shall be submitted to the Zoning Commission for review and approval prior to placement on the property.”
MOTION
Move that the Board of Selectmen approve and recommend to the zoning commission for consideration, signage for the tent for the limited duration of the Mark Twain Library book fair as proposed by the Mark Twain Library. Karvelis, Thompson. Approved. Unanimous.
MOTION
Move to adjourn. Karvelis, Thompson. Approved. Unanimous.
The meeting adjourned at 10:10 am.
