MINUTES OF BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Monday, February 27, 2017
Town Hall Hearing Room, 7:00 p.m.

Present: Julia Pemberton; Michael Thompson; P. O’Donnell
Also present: Police Chief Doug Fuchs; Board of Finance members; members of the public; videographers.

  1. Call to Order
    The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
  1. Approval of Minutes
    On the motion of P. O’Donnell and the second of M. Thompson, the Board voted unanimously to approve the 2/13/17 Minutes. 
  1. Discussion & Possible Action FY 20147-418 Budget proposal
    Police Chief D. Fuchs reviewed a possible alternative to staff reduction due to a personnel status change.  A reduction in training and maintenance was proposed in lieu of reducing staff for a defrayed savings of $60,000.  The staff reduction of one will occur through attrition in the next fiscal year.

Specific training deferment was reviewed in detail.  J. Pemberton requested additional information re: cost of outsourcing training.

No vote was required due to the dollar for dollar exchange in an approved budget.

Julia Pemberton reported on an increase of $119,482 due to the increased bond interest rate.

  1. Public Comment
    Julia Pemberton reported that the budget has been adopted and a Board of Finance Public Hearing is scheduled for 3/2/17.

Glenn Johnson, Redding Fire Department, reiterated his request for volunteer incentives including insurance.  J. Pemberton will review Brookfield’s abatement and noted her support in maintaining the Fire and EMS structure.

    On the motion of M. Thompson and the second of P. O’Donnell, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:32 p.m.
