MINUTES
Tuesday, August 15, 2017
7:30 p.m. – Old Town House

Present: David Pattee, Chairman; William Hill; Stuart Green; Susan Robinson; Wallace Perlman.

Absent: Tina Miller

The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -Meeting of August 1, 2017;
Site Walk Minutes 8/7/17-Mr. Guy Mazza, 5 Wagon Wheel Rd.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of S. Robinson, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the 8/1/17 Meeting Minutes.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of S. Green, the Commission voted to approve the 8/7/17 Site Walk Minutes. W. Hill abstained.

II. REGULATORY
Application #17-08, Eric L. and Courtney P. Cowles (owners), Rob Sanders Architects, LLC (agent), 221-229 Lonetown Road. Received 7/18/17. Possible discussion of an application for construction of a replacement pool house and construction of a two-car garage within the regulated area.

Discussion will resume at the 9/19/17 meeting.

Application #17-09, Guy Mazza (owner), Dennis Carlson, A-1 Septic (agent), 5 Wagon Wheel Road. Received 8/1/17. Discussion and possible vote on an application for septic repair with discharge to an existing swale which discharges to a down-gradient wetland area. Site Walk 8/7/17.

Mr. and Mrs. Mazza were present along with Dennis Carlson. Site Walk findings were reviewed.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of S. Robinson, the Commission voted unanimously to approve Application #17-09.

Application #17-10, Albert and Reghan Diaz, 67 Topstone Road. To receive and discuss an application to construct a swimming pool and removal of excess soil associated with pool construction within the regulated area.

Albert and Reghan Diaz were present. The proposal was reviewed accompanied by a drawing. Mr. Diaz reported that earth moving material will be taken to a truck and removed.

A site walk is scheduled for Fri., 8/18/17 at 5:30 p.m.

Discussion of Land Management Plan for 18 Hill Road.
The Land Management Plan was reviewed. Commissioners discussed whether dogs should be permitted; the number of cars permitted to park and the importance of the connection to Saugatuck Trail. D. Pattee reported that J. Pemberton is in favor of naming the property after Mary Anne Guitar.

III. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
The results of last year’s deer hunt on town-owned property yielded 46 deer by 21 hunters.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of S. Green, the Commission voted unanimously to continue the deer hunting program for the next hunting season commencing September, 2017.

The Open Space Plan will be discussed at the next meeting.

Stuart Green reported that the signs have been taken down at Couch Hill Preserve in preparation for mowing.

Two educational signs have been vandalized and removed from Saugatuck Falls Natural Area.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
