The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -Minutes of February 5, 2013
On the motion of J. Ross and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the 2/5/13 Minutes as amended: Page 2, last item under “Chairman’s Report”, changed to “D. Pattee and S. Green will present the Norwalk River Valley Trail routing survey to the Board of Selectman at their meeting in March, 2013.”
II. REGULATORY
Application/Violation #12-02, Ms. Pamela Davis (owner), Peter Davis (agent), 724 Redding Road. Earthmoving and deposition of woodchips, split wood, cut logs and branches in and around wetland soils to establish and stabilize property line (border) from wetlands. Site Walk 1/5/13. Discussion 1/15/13, 2/5/13.
B. Flanagan will conduct a site inspection pending suitable weather conditions.
III. FOR DISCUSSION
Request from Laurel Burmeister for permission to hold her wedding ceremony at Couch Hill Preserve on Saturday, October 5, 2013
Mr. and Mrs. Burmeister were present. After review of the proposed details including parking, the Commission concurred and gave a positive response.
IV. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
The CT Land Conservation Council is holding a seminar re: protection of open space at Wesleyan University on 3/23/13 from 8:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Contact D. Pattee if interested in attending.
The U.S. Green Building CT Chapter is holding a meeting on 2/28/13 at the Lapham Community Center in New Canaan from 6:30-9:00 pm re: breakthroughs in energy and environmental legislation.
D. Pattee noted that the statement from the Commission re: HB6121 was presented on 2/14/13 at the CT General Assembly.
New England Wildflower Society thanked the Commission for allowing access to Saugatuck Falls re: rare plant monitoring.
Aquarion is looking for potential recipients of Aquarion environmental champions awards.
A Public Hearing re: revised Regulations will be held on 4/16/13.
J. Beres reviewed new information re: sharpshooting.
Trails Day is scheduled for 6/1/13. Rain date is 6/2/13.
On the motion of T. Miller and the second of J. Ross, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
