Minutes

Present: David Pattee, Chairman; William Hill; Stuart Green; Tina Miller.

Absent: Jeremiah Ross; Joseph Beres; Wallace Perlman.

The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

  1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES-Meeting of 2/18/14

On the motion of S. Green and the second of T. Miller, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the 2/18/14 Minutes as amended:  Page 1, last item under “Approval of Minutes”, change to “The Conservation Commission is sponsoring a Trail Day Hike on 6/7/14.”

  1. REGULATORY

Application #14-02, Janet Schienmann (owner), Charles and Heidi Cristofalo and Joseph Martin, Jr. (agent), 45 Old Stagecoach Road.  To receive and discuss an application for excavating and grading to replace existing septic system within the regulated area.

Joseph Martin was present for the applicant.  A drawing and the proposal was reviewed.

A Site Walk is scheduled for Sun., 3/16/14 at 9:00 a.m.

Application #14-03, Aquarion Water Company (owner), Stephen Stamos (agent), Centennial Watershed State Forest, NE site of Saugatuck Reservoir  bordered by Greenbush Road and Newtown Turnpike, Redding.  To receive and discuss an application for “foot travel only” trail extension within the regulated area.

Mr. Stamos was present.  The proposal was reviewed in detail along with a map.

A Site Walk is scheduled for Sun., 3/16/14 at 9:30 a.m.

III.    DISCUSSION

To discuss Open Space Grant Application.

The Open Space Grant was reviewed in detail.

On the motion of S. Green and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously in support of the Town’s purchase of the Biehn-Enos property at 19 Hill Road.

  1. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

A Site Walk of the proposed Norwalk River Valley Trail is scheduled for 4/16/14.  A comprehensive list of neighbors and abutters will receive notice of the Site Walk.

  1. Pattee reviewed the proposed parking fee structure for State Parks.  Details can be found on the CT Forest & Parks site.

On the motion of T. Miller and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 p.m.
