Minutes

Present: David Pattee, Chairman; Susan Robinson; William Hill; Joseph Beres; Tina Miller; Wallace Perlman.

The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES -Minutes of August 4, 2015

On the motion of and the second of, the Commission voted to approve the 8/4/15 meeting Minutes as amended: Page 1, second item under “Approval of Minutes”, last sentence, change to “W. Hill and S. Robinson abstained.”; Page 2, fourth item under “Chairman’s Report”, change last sentence to “Options for warning signs on both sides of the railroad tracks were reviewed.”

II.  REGULATORY

Application/Modification #13-06, Todd and Cathy Drury, 20 Pocahontas Road. To receive and discuss an application/modification to construct an in-ground swimming pool and access to regulated area for pool equipment.

Mr. and Mrs. Drury were present. Mr. Drury displayed plans and noted that the pool and the equipment are not in the regulated area. A memo from A. Pardee was reviewed re: newly constructed wall. New photographs were reviewed.

A revised plan is required inclusive of the items delineated in A. Pardee’s report.. A site walk was scheduled for Thursday, 8/27/15 at 6:00 p.m. D. Pattee requested stakes be placed at the four corners of the pool location. Mr. Drury will supply revised plans at the scheduled site walk.

Application #15-07, Melanie Miller and Robert Ginsberg (owners), Matt Biron/Bob Doerflinger-Hoffman Landscapes (agent), 12 Mallory Lane. To receive and discuss an application for installation of a swimming pool (cartridge filter), spa, and patio within the regulated area.

M. Biron was present for the applicant. The plans and proposal were reviewed in detail.

A site walk is scheduled for Thursday, 8/27/15 at 5:45 p.m.

III.  CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Report on Open Space Deer Management Program, Julia Pemberton, First Selectman.

J. Pemberton reported on the Open Space Deer Management results for 2014. There were 12 reported deer taken from bow hunters on town-owned land.  The presence of a deer stand has been reported on Granskog property. Sunday bow hunting is now permitted in Connecticut and will begin October 1. J.Beres will assist with reviewing applications. The 2015 program will begin on September 15.

D. Pattee reported on a Cease & Desist order for 398 Newtown Turnpike. An application is pending.

Access to Sidecut Trail via Sidecut Road was discussed. An application is being submitted to the Planning Commission for a gravel parking lot on a Scenic Road.

S. Green noted planning bridge repair on Raccoon Lane.

Sean McNamara will attend the next meeting re: additional sign for Saugatuck Falls Natural Area.

On the motion of T. Miller and the second of W. Perlman, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 9:05 p.m.
