The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -Minutes of August 18, 2015
Site Walk Minutes 8/27/15, 20 Pocahontas, M/M Drury

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the 8/18/15 Meeting Minutes as amended: Page 1, first sentence under “Approval of Minutes”, change to “On the motion of S. Green and the second of W. Perlman, the Commission voted to approve the 8/4/15 Minutes as amended. T. Miller abstained.”
On the motion of T. Miller and the second of W. Perlman, the Commission voted to approve the 8/27/15 Site Walk Minutes. S. Green and W. Hill abstained.
II. REGULATORY
Application/Modification #13-06, Todd and Cathy Drury, 20 Pocahontas Road. Received 8/18/15. Discussion and possible vote on an application/modification to construct an inground swimming pool and access to regulated area for pool equipment. Site Walk 8/27/15.
Mr. and Mrs. Drury were present. Site Walk findings were reviewed and a new drawing inclusive of the modified fence location was submitted.
On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to approve Application/Modification #13-06.
Application #15-07, Melanie Miller and Robert Ginsberg (owners), Matt Biron/Bob Doerflinger-Hoffman Landscapes (agents), 12 Mallory Lane. Received 8/18/15. Discussion and possible vote on an application for installation of a swimming pool (cartridge filter), spa, and patio within the regulated area. Site Walk 8/27/15.
Matt Biron was present for the application. Site Walk findings were reviewed. A report from A. Pardee was reviewed and submitted to Mr. Biron.
On the motion of S. Green and the second of W. Perlman, the Commission voted unanimously to approve Application #15-07 with the use of galvanized metal piping for the fence post, driven by hand.
Application #15-08, Marie DaSilva (owner), John DaSilva (agent), 398 Newtown Turnpike. To receive and discuss an application to clean up debris from run-off ditch, restore/rebuild collapsed retention pond, rebuild stoned banks. Proposed garage/barn and shed, stonewalls, and driveway within the regulated area.
Mr. DaSilva was present. The report from A. Pardee was reviewed along with photographs. Mr. DaSilva stated that he was told there were no wetlands on his property. D. Pattee reviewed the charge and mechanism by which the Commission executes the Commission charge. A Site Walk is scheduled for Fri., 9/11/15 at 5:30 p.m.
Discussion Item:
Additional Sign for Saugatuck Falls Natural Area—Sean McNamara.
Jane Ross was present on behalf of Sean McNamara. The proposed sign for Saugatuck Falls Natural Area was displayed. Addition information is required re: specific proposed location of the sign, how many future signs are planned and content of any future signs.
III. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
A continuing education program re: soils is scheduled for 10/20/15 from 12:00pm-4: 30 pm in Burlington, CT. Anyone interested should contact C. Keil at the Land Use Office.
D. Pattee, S. Green and J. Ross met on 8/31/15 to discuss a possible pull-off area on the side of Sidecut Road to access Sidecut Trail. The Planning Commission will be consulted due to the Scenic Road status of Sidecut Road.
The CACIWC annual meeting is scheduled for 11/14/15.
S. Robinson reported on the need to replace the bench at Gilbert-Miller Park.
D. Pattee discussed the ownership of Gilbert-Miller Park with J. Pemberton. Status is being reviewed.
D. Pattee reported on the status of the Biehn open space parcel.
Route 107 will be paved from Route 53 to Putnam Park Road in October.
Dates are being discussed for a visit from UConn’s Land Use Academy.
On the motion of T. Miller and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 p.m.
