MINUTES
Tuesday, February 2, 2016
7:30 p.m. – Old Town House

Present: David Pattee, Chairman; Susan Robinson; William Hill; Stuart Green; Joseph Beres; Tina Miller; Wallace Perlman.

The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.

I.   APPROVAL OF MINUTES -Minutes of January 19, 2016

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted to approve the 1/19/16 Minutes as amended:  Page 2, fifth item under “Chairman’s Report”, change to “250 NRVT mailers were sent in an informational and fundraising appeal.” T. Miller abstained.

II.   REGULATORY

Application #15-14, Sterlhen LLC/Marie C. Henry, 475 Newtown Turnpike (formerly 327 Black Rock Tpke). Received 12/15/15. Discussion and possible vote on an application to construct driveway to a single-family dwelling and accessory dwelling/cottage and review updated approved map. Site Walk 12/21/15. Discussion 1/5/16.

Marie Henry was present.  The new map was displayed and Ms. Henry reviewed the three changes in detail.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of S. Robinson, the Commission voted to approve Application #15-14.  S. Green abstained.

III. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

S. Robinson has a weed scientist contact who is willing to speak to the Commission re: black swallow-wort.

D. Pattee reviewed proposed designation of Couch Hill Preserve as an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society.  He will send a positive response.  T. Miller noted the designation applies only during nesting season.

The Granskog property being considered for purchase by The Nature Conservancy is no longer on the market.

Re: Biehn property, research is being conducted to determine if hunting falls within the passive recreation description.

S. Green, D. Pattee, A. Pardee, J. McLeran and Land Trust members met re: revising and updating the book of trails and trails map.  S. Robinson suggested the CT Conservation Ambassador program for volunteers. D. Pattee noted a relevant workshop on technology scheduled at the CT Land Conservation Council meeting in March.

S. Green provided an update re: NRVT grant application.

S. Robinson reported a BioBlitz will take place at Weir Farm on May 20.

On the motion of T. Miller and the second of W. Perlman, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
