CALL TO ORDER
C. Parkin called the Redding Board of Education Regular meeting to order at 7:33 p.m.
J. Stinson called the Easton Board of Education Regular meeting to order at 7:33 p.m.
T. Johnston called the Redding Board of Education Regular meeting to order at 7:33 p.m.

DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: APPOINTMENT OF SUPERINTENDENT AND CONTRACT FOR SUPERINTENDENT
C. Parkin opened the meeting and turned it over to C. Graziano and M. Williams as the co-chairs of the Superintendent Personnel Search Committee Steering Committee. C. Graziano provided a review of the process used to search and select the proposed Superintendent of Schools. M. Williams introduced Dr. Jason McKinnon as the proposed Superintendent of Schools.

Motion: move that the Easton Board of Education, (a) in accordance with Conn. Gen. Stat. Section 10-157 appoints Dr. Jason McKinnon to serve as superintendent of schools with a start date to be mutually agreed upon, (b) that the Chair be authorized to execute the proposed contract between Dr. McKinnon and the Easton, Redding, and Region 9 Boards as joint employers, and (c) that the Personnel Search Committee’s work, including the work of the steering subcommittee, be deemed completed and the committee dissolved. Chieda, Wible. Unanimous. 5-0.

Motion: move that the Redding Board of Education, (a) in accordance with Conn. Gen. Stat. Section 10-157 appoints Dr. Jason McKinnon to serve as superintendent of schools with a start date to be mutually agreed upon, (b) that the Chair be authorized to execute the proposed contract between Dr. McKinnon and the Easton, Redding, and Region 9 Boards as joint employers, and (c) that the Personnel Search Committee’s work, including the work of the steering subcommittee, be deemed completed and the committee dissolved. Whaley, Hoffman. Unanimous. 6-0.

Motion: move that the Region 9 Board of Education, (a) in accordance with Conn. Gen. Stat. Section 10-157 appoints Dr. Jason McKinnon to serve as superintendent of schools with a start date to be mutually agreed upon, (b) that the Chair be authorized to execute the proposed contract between Dr. McKinnon and the Easton, Redding, and Region 9 Boards as joint employers, and (c) that the Personnel Search Committee’s work, including the work of the steering subcommittee, be deemed completed and the committee dissolved. Graziano, Williams. Unanimous. 7-0.

Dr. J. McKinnon thanked the Boards for the tremendous opportunity and said he is excited to work with the towns, faculty and staff to impact the lives of students. He explained his near-term plans and expressed gratitude for his current district.

PUBLIC COMMENT
Debbi Barer, Hay St., Easton: Welcomed Dr. McKinnon and thanked the Boards and Dr. McMorran.

Beatrix Erikson, Side Cut Rd, Redding: Addressed Dr. McKinnon, explained that he is inheriting a position that requires mending and healing and asked related questions about DEI and how he will create an environment where all kids can learn.

Julia Pemberton, Umpawaug Rd, Redding: Welcomed Dr. McKinnon and thanked the Boards.

BOARD MEMBER COMMENT
J. Chieda: Thanked C. Graziano, M. Williams and Dr. Erardi for their leadership, and welcomed Dr. McKinnon.

H. Whaley: Echoed J. Chieda’s comments and thanked all the Committee Members, C. Graziano, M. Williams, and welcomed Dr. McKinnon.

C. Parkin: Echoed Board member comments, and welcomed Sharon Weirsman, the interim Principal at Redding Elementary School. S. Weirsman thanked C. Parkin and said she is having a great week.

M. D’Agostino: Thanked the Boards, C. Graziano, M. Williams and the Board Chairs for filling many open positions, and welcomed Dr. McKinnon.

ADJOURNMENT
Motion: move to adjourn the Easton Board of Education (Wible, Chieda). Unanimous consent.

Motion: move to adjourn the Redding Board of Education (Hoffman, Whaley). Unanimous consent.

Motion: move to adjourn the Region 9 Board of Education (Lehberger, D’Agostino). Unanimous consent.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:49 p.m.
