Minutes of Historic Review Committee, 05/04/2017

AGENDA: Historic Review Committee

RECEIVED 05/08/2017 4:24pm
Michele R. Grande – Redding Town Clerk

Thursday, May 4, 2017 @7:30 PM, Old Town House

Present: Chairman Raymond D’Angelo, Vice Chairman Matt Lecher, Secretary Anda Cumings, alt. Jean Taylor, historian Charles Couch.

Chairman Raymond D’Angelo calls the meeting to order at 7:35PM.
I. Approval of Minutes, Meeting of February 10, 2017
Anda Cumings reads the minutes of the last meeting. She notes that in her motion in Section III she misstates the meeting place of the Committee. The motion should read that the HRC is to meet on first and third Thursdays at the Old Town House.
Matt Lecher motions to accept the minutes with the correction as noted. Seconded by Ray D’Angelo. The motion is accepted unanimously.

II. Demolition Application- 8 Main St. Georgetown
Ray D’Angelo presents to the Committee the latest demolition application. The structure to be removed is a garbage enclosure in the front of the Georgetown Saloon. Matt Lecher motions that the Demolition Delay Ordinance not be enforced for this application, seconded by Anda Cumings. All vote in favor. Ray D’Angelo will inform the applicants.

III. Inquiry-65 Hill Road
Raymond D’Angelo was approached by the owners of this property to comment on the historical significance, if any, of the outbuildings. All present agreed that discussing or researching a property that has not come before the Committee as a demolition application is inappropriate and out of the purview of the Committee, and may even give the appearance of prequalifying properties for exemption from the Ordinance. Raymond will ask that the Land Office direct persons with questions about properties to the various Town or state resources (and in this case the James Sexton survey of historical barns and outbuildings).

IV. General Discussion-Chairman’s Report
Ray D’Angelo brings the Committee up to date regarding communications with the Land Use Office, the Selectman and other activities. Construction and repair activity on antique homes on Black Rock Turnpike is briefly discussed.

Matt Lecher moves that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Anda Cumings. The meeting is adjourned at 9:00PM.
