Present: Chairman Ray D’Angelo, Vice Chairman Matt Lecher, Secretary Anda Cumings, alternate Jean Taylor, alternate Sherry Karraker, Land Use Officer Aimee Pardee, builder Max Soper, abutting neighbor Katie Braja.

Chairman Ray D’Angelo calls the meeting to order at 7 PM.

I. Minutes of last meeting, April 11, 2019.
Ray D’Angelo notes a typo in the last minutes. The date of the previous last meeting should read January 17, 2019. Matt Lecher motions that the minutes be accepted given this correction, seconded by Ray D’Angelo. All vote in favor.

II. Demolition application for 244 Umpawaug Road.
Ray D’Angelo reads into the record archeologist and historian Stu Reeve’s memo to Aimee Pardee. Stu Reeve does not recommend that the 180 day demolition delay be continued, as after his extensive site visit to the property he does not see historical significance to the remaining house and the two outbuildings to be demolished. Ray invites discussion from the Committee. Anda Cumings comments that there is now an archeological easement on this property, cordoned off from construction interference, in compliance with previous Town requirements that the owner undergo a fully documented archeological survey before new construction can begin. This was reviewed and approved before the Planning Commission in recent weeks. As a result, the demolition will be supervised by archeologists. In addition, the main barn near to the road and a smaller outbuilding are to be preserved. Nothing inside the house, which has been altered numerous times since its reconstruction in 1907 (original having been destroyed by fire) is of historical significance, and the structure has no architectural significance in its current state. There is nothing compelling further delay on this property.

Matt Lecher motions that the house and outbuildings designated for demolition at 224 Umpawaug Road be released from the 180 day demolition delay. Anda Cumings seconds the motion, and all vote in favor. Ray will officially notify the applicant in writing.

III. Chairman’s report.
Ray D’Angelo has nothing further to report.

Matt Lecher motions to adjourn, seconded by Anda Cumings. The meeting adjourns at 7:04 PM.
