Meeting Minutes
Present: Kevin Jones (Chair), Rob Blick, Scott Palmer, MaryLou Carlson, Kate Schwartz, Jan Dorenbosch.
CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Jones called the meeting to order at 8:06pm
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
-PAR office is fully preparing for summer activities/programs.
-The fields at RCC are open as of Thursday of last week. This has been the latest the fields have opened in many years.
-Topstone Park had tree damage from various storms this winter. The highway department and PAR staff members have fixed said damage.
-The Topstone beach was hydro-raked and the highway department scooped out the organic matter. The water was turned on and seasonal water system paperwork was filed with the State Health department.
-Additional lifeguards are needed for the summer season at Topstone. All other staff is secured.
-The summer camp hiring process s continuing to take place. Candidates have been notified and the hiring process is continuing. Jen Lewis is the camp director with Justin Spilka as her assistant.
-June 18 is Mexican night with Racho Alegre. Musicians will also be at the event.
-The Redding Hive event is May 19, 2018 at Topstone. They agreed to run the parking the way the commission requested.
-The music shed event had 36 kids attend and was a success.

-Motion to approve minutes from the April 2, 2018 meeting. Palmer, Carlson (second), unanimous.

COMMISSION CO-CHAIR NOMINATION AND ACTION
–Motion to nominate Scott Palmer as Co-Chair of Parks and Recreation Commission, Dorenbosch, Schwartz (second), unanimous.
-Scott Palmer is nominated as Co-Chair of Parks and Recreation Commission.
ADDITIONAL NEW BUSINESS
-Discuss the field drainage issue and plans to rectify it.
