Meeting Minutes

Present: Kevin Jones (Chair), Rob Blick, Scott Palmer, MaryLou Carlson, Kate Schwartz.

CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Jones called the meeting to order at 7:34pm

DIRECTOR’S REPORT
-PAR office is fully preparing for summer activities/programs.
-Topstone is fully opened, lifeguard training is underway, however the town is short a few lifeguards.
-Rob Blick discussed a community member contacting him to donate swinging benches to Topstone. Commission discussed and agreed the swinging benches aren’t commercial grade and would be difficult to keep in good shape.
-Rob Blick reported an electrical issue at Topstone. The issue is the electrical wires not being up to code and requires significant trenching. The issue is being handled in a time sensitive matter because Topstone needs to be running for beach members.
-Fields are in good shape and have dried up considerably in the last month.
-Rob spoke to Julia about the grant money, regarding the field upgrades. Commission agreed, that a professional company needs to be hired, analyze the situation and give the best plan of action. Discussion followed, Kevin will be speaking to Julia further.
-A women’s pickup softball league is being started for the summer.

-No correspondence discussed

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion to approve minutes from the May 7, 2018 meeting.  Carlson, Palmer (second), unanimous.

DISCUSSION OF PREVIOUS BUSINESS
-No previous business

ADDITIONAL NEW BUSINESS
-Scott Palmer asked if any additional programs could be added to Parks and Recreation programs, due to program cuts at the high school level.
