REVIEW OF DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Mr. Blick reviewed his report:
– Basketball season has been going well. We have over 220 players in our recreation leagues.
– We have had good compliance at all of our programs; art, fitness, sports open gyms. With just a few people cancelling or not scheduling Birthday Parties based on the indoor mask mandate.
– The ice rink has been going well. Skating has been open 18 days so far breaking the previous record of 12. Almost everyday there have been people on the rink. Small groups mostly of 2-8 people which is perfect for our rink. The only problem has been people leaving milk cartons (meant for hockey goals) on the ice, they freeze overnight and can’t be removed.
– We ran a ski trip to Mohawk Friday, January 28. This week’s ski trip will need to be cancelled and rescheduled due to heavy rain followed by icy conditions.
– We will be communicating with our returning summer staff in the coming weeks, and will coordinate a meeting with the RES administration to begin planning our summer camp offerings.
– Our Open gyms are going well. We offer youth and adult basketball, volleyball, soccer, family time and Pickleball.
– Due to increasing numbers we have expanded our morning Pickleball times as we have in the past years. We have added Friday mornings and added one hour making the three mornings 9am-12pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We also have an early morning Wednesday at 7:05am and a Saturday Night slot at 7:45-9:45pm.
– Kim Becker has agreed to offer a free 1-hour indoor lesson to anyone who would like to learn the basics of Pickleball.
– Mr. Blick has begun scheduling bands for the Concert on the Green series this summer.
– Letters will go out next week for renewal of Community Garden plots. We had to inform two gardeners last summer we would not allow them to renew since they didn’t maintain their gardens. During the pandemic the wait list grew from 4-5 to about 20.
