Minutes
Board of Education: Denny, Florkowski, Hoffman, Miller, Sobel
Administration: Sullivan, Pierson Ugol
Chairman Sobel called the March 30, 2016, special Redding Board of Education meeting to order at 10:02 am in the Central Office conference room.
DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON HVAC CAPITAL REQUEST
Peggy Sullivan began the discussion by explaining why the Redding BOE capital request increased $450,000, from $5,000,000 to $5,450,000.
When the capital request was first made, Fletcher Thompson, the Boards architectural firm, based the estimate off of schematics. Now that construction drawings have been distributed through the state to four contractors, the facilities committee was able to provide the Board a firm number based on an average of the bids.
Ms. Sullivan added that a large percentage of the adjustment comes from an increase in the number of ceiling cassettes needed for the job. In addition, Ms. Sullivan said that the town will be receiving a total energy credit of $50,000 – $100,000 once the work is completed.
Motion: move that the Redding Board of Education approve the revised 2016-2017 capital request of $5,450,000. Denny, Miller.
Discussion continued.
It was reiterated that the Redding Board of Finance had already voted on and approved the revised $5,450,000 BOE capital request at their March 28, 2016, meeting.
Vote on Motion: Approved. 5-2-0.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion: move to adjourn the meeting. Florkowski, Denny. Approved. Unanimous.
