ATTENDANCE:
Board of Education: Irwin, Hoeing, Hoffman, Parkin, Pilato, Reilly, Whaley (Board present by electronic means)
Administration: McMorran, Hammond – by phone, Wallin – by phone
Members of the Public: 1

CALL TO ORDER:
Dr. Irwin called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion to approve the minutes of the June 25, 2019 Regular Board of Education Meeting. Reilly, Pilato, Unanimous.

PUBLIC COMMENT:
None

BOARD MEMBER COMMENT:
None

BUILDING ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS:
None

DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: BUILDING ADMINISTRATION STAFFING
Dr. McMorran announced the resignation of Dr. Martin as JRMS Principal and discussed plans for moving forward with a replacement and consideration of the 90-day notice period in the ARA contract.

Motion to form a search committee and charge it with identifying and recommending a new principal for John Read Middle School. Parkin, Hoffman.

A brief discussion followed regarding the timing of interim and permanent replacements.

The motion carried unanimously.

Motion to direct the Superintendent, in consultation with the Board, to hire an interim principal for John Read Middle School as soon as practicable. Parkin, Hoeing.

Discussion followed regarding steps already taken to fill the role and timing of further action.

The motion carried unanimously.

Motion to grant the Superintendent, in consultation with the negotiation committee, the discretion to reduce the 90-day notice period contained in Section 5(B) of the ARA contract with respect to the resignation of Diane Martin as principal of John Read Middle School to whatever period he determines to be in the best interest of the district. Parkin, Hoffman. Unanimous.

Discussion followed regarding communication of the change in leadership to the school community and through social media.
