DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: PUBLIC DISCUSSION TO SHARE INSIGHT AND ASK QUESTIONS
The Board and Dr. McMorran answered questions from about 15 Meadow Ridge residents. Questions ranged from basics about Redding schools and the extent to which the community values education to details about special education cost escalation and its impact on the overall program, the teacher contract, and steps the Board has been taking to control cost and negotiate prudent contracts. Discussion also included speculation about costs being pushed down from the state during the current legislative session and a common desire to see the Redding Education Foundation revived. Concerns were raised about the difficulty of Meadow Ridge residents to learn about the schools and the budget process. A strong desire to know more was expressed by several attendees.
