Mr. Hancock called the meeting of the Region 9 Board of Education District Meeting to order at 7:02 pm in the Joel Barlow Media Center.
NOMINATION OF MODERATOR TO CONDUCT THE MEETING
Mr. D’Agostino nominated Suzanne Krivit to be the moderator of the meeting. This was seconded by Peggy Sullivan and unanimously approved.
MODERATOR TO READ THE CALL OF THE MEETING
Ms. Krivit read the Call of the Meeting:
Warning and Notice of District Meeting, Regional School district No. 9 Composed of the Towns of Easton and Redding in the State of Connecticut: Warning is hereby given to the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Regional School District No. 9, being those electors and citizens qualified to vote in the Towns of Easton and Redding in the State of Connecticut, that a District Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Connecticut at 7:00 pm., for the following purpose.
Making a supplemental appropriation for the 2015-16 fiscal year and authorizing an expenditure of the supplemental appropriation in the total amount of $60,632.00, $10,632.00 as an additional contribution to the defined benefit pension plan and a $50,000.00 transfer to the capital reserve fund of the District. Such appropriation and expenditure shall be made prior to June 30, 2016 and be funded with the amount of $60,632.00 received and held by the District related to the refund of taxes paid by the Town of Bethel to the District.
MODERATOR TURNED THE CONDUCT OF THE MEETING TO THE CHAIR
Mr. Hancock called for a motion to approve the action.
Motion: move to approve the supplemental appropriation for the 2016-2017 fiscal year in the amount of $60,632.00 received and held by the District related to the refund of taxes paid by the Town of Bethel to the District. Such appropriation and expenditure to be made as follows, prior to June 30, 2016:
- $10,632.00 as an additional contribution to the defined benefit pension plan;
- $50,000.00 transfer to the capital reserve fund of the District.
Motion by Mr. D’Agostino, seconded by Mr. King.
Mr. Hancock asked if there were any questions regarding the action to be taken.
John Board, Redding: Mr. Board asked about the status of the defined benefit pension fund. Mr. King responded that the fund is in good shape and is 85% funded.
Vote on the Motion: Approved. Unanimous.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion: move that the Region 9 Board of Education District Meeting be adjourned. Coppinger, D’Agostino. Approved. Unanimous.
The meetings were adjourned at 7:09 pm.
