CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Johnston called the virtual Zoom meeting of the Region 9 Board of Education Annual District Meeting to order at 7:33 p.m.

NOMINATION OF MODERATOR TO CONDUCT THE MEETING

MOTION:  Move to nominate Susanne Krivit, Redding, to act as Moderator of the meeting (D’Agostino, Williams).  Approved.  Unanimous.

Nominations were closed with no additional individuals nominated.

READING OF THE CALL OF THE MEETING
Ms. Krivit read the Call of the Meeting:

Warning is hereby given to the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Regional School District No. 9, being those electors and citizens qualified to vote in the Towns of Easton and Redding in the State of Connecticut, that a District Meeting will be held virtually on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 7:30 p.m., for the following purposes:

  1. To consider and receive comments regarding the funding proposal of the Region No. 9 Board of Education for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022, in the amount of $24,595,254.

Ms. Krivit turned the meeting over to Mr. Johnston.

REQUEST FOR REGION 9 2021-2022 OPERATIONAL BUDGET BE REFERRED TO THE REGION 9 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING ON TUESDAY, MAY 4, 2021.

Mr. Johnston presented the 2021-2022 School District Budget, approved by the Region No. 9 Board of Education, in the amount of $24,595,254 in accordance with Section 10-51 of the Connecticut General Statutes.  In accordance with Section 10-51 of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Region No. 9 Board of Education has established a Capital Reserve Fund, in which the annual appropriation shall not exceed 1% of the annual district operating budget.  In accordance with Section 10-51(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Region No. 9 Board of Education has a statement of Estimated Receipts and Expenditures for FY2020-21 and FY2021-22, Estimated Surplus or Deficit in operating funds at the end of the current fiscal year, Bonded Debt, Estimated Per Pupil Expenditures for the Current and the Next Fiscal Year, and the Status of the Capital Reserve Fund as of May 3, 2021.

Mr. Johnston then declared that the District Meeting is to be considered recessed until the following day, Tuesday, May 4, 2021 until the polls open in the two member towns, and that the Meeting is to be considered adjourned following the close of the polls in the two member towns and announcements made of the results of the voting.

MOTION:  Move to recess to the Machine Vote (D’Agostino, O’Brien).  Approved.  Unanimous

Meeting declared recessed at 7:43 p.m.
