The October 20, 2014 Town Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm in the Hearing Room of the Redding Town Office Building.

There were 15 people present, plus a representative of the Redding Pilot and two videographers.

Election of Moderator:
John Downey was nominated by Michael Thompson to be the Moderator for the meeting. This nomination was seconded by David Pattee and unanimously approved by those present.

Mr. Downey presided over the remainder of the meeting. He called on Mrs. Grande, Redding’s Town Clerk, to read the Warning of the Meeting.


The Legal Voters in the Town of Redding, Connecticut, and those entitled to vote therein are hereby warned and notified to meet at the Special Town Meeting to be held at the Redding Town Hall, 100 Hill Road, Redding, CT on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. for the following purpose:

“To act upon the Ordinance Regarding Adoption of Connecticut General Statutes Sections 124i through 4-124p to Join the Western Connecticut Council of Governments”;
To do any and all things legal and necessary to accomplish the above named purpose and to take any other action that may legally come before the meeting.

Moderator Downey asked for a motion to accept the Warning of the Special Town Meeting. That motion was made by James Miller and seconded by Leon Karvelis. The motion was unanimously approved.

Mr. Downey noted that he had received notification certifying publication of the Notice of Special Town Meeting and it would be filed with the proceedings of the meeting.

Motion: move that the Town of Redding adopt the Ordinance as presented. Motion by Mrs. Pemberton, seconded by Mr. Karvelis.

Discussion of the proposed Ordinance followed. First Selectman Pemberton reviewed the change in the structure of the Connecticut regional planning agencies and impact on the Town of Redding. Following a brief discussion, a vote on the motion on the table was called.

Vote on Motion: Approved unanimously.

Motion: move that the Special Town Meeting be adjourned. Pattee, Miller. Approved. Unanimous.

The meeting adjourned at 7:14 pm.
