WATER POLLUTION CONTROL COMMISSION
Regular Meeting 
August 15, 2018

Present: Rich Regan,Amy Atamian, David Pattee, & Jim Miller. Geno Burke and Matt Bernadini of Veolia Water

Rich Regan called the meeting at 7:32pm in the Hearing Room of the Town Hall Building.

ITEM 1: MOTION: Approval WPCC meeting held on July 18, 2018, J. Miller (motion), A. Atamian (second), unanimous 

ITEM 2: REPORT FROM VEOLIA WATER PLANT MANAGERS

Veolia reported:
OPERATIONAL AND MAINTENANCE

-Weekly Power Washing of the On-Line Primary Drum Screener continues.
-Internal wasting totaled 44,769 gallons
-HI Stone removed 12,526 gallons of waste for off-site disposal.
-Weekly UV lamps and sensor cleaning completed.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE

-There were no permit violations for Redding in the month of July 2018

OTHER UPDATES

-(25 and 29 Old Mill Road), 25 Old Mill is scheduled to receive a new meter next week. 29 Old Mill Road was said to have a faulty meter, upon investigation Geno found the plug was removed, it wasn’t broken.

-No Call Before You Dig requests were made in July 2018

-Geno Burke reported the plant is running well, with no current issues.

-NIC has begun building screens, alarms, and PLC’s for the plant. Matt Bernadini will be going to NIC headquarters for quality control testing, as it relates to the Redding plant.

-Matt Bernadini stated that the plant upgrade will begin and pickup in pace in September.

ITEM 3: EVERSOURCE ELECTRICAL VOLTAGE REPORT
-Matt Bernadini reported that Matt Johnson suggested eventually installing a Harmonic Meter. He didn’t feel the need was immediate but something to look into in the future. Jim Miller presented and explained estimates received for the project. Discussion followed.

ITEM 4: DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON INVOICES AND FINANCIAL STATUS

MOTION: Commission requests a transfer from the Finance Director of the Town of Redding for the amount of $80,000.00

MOTION: Commission will approve the following invoices subject to funds availability:

  1. Aquarion Monthly $240.86
  2. Eversource $2,262.87
  3. EDF (Transcanada) $5,073.25
  4. Frontier $304.07
  5. Aquarion Meter Readings $67.08
  6. Hocon Gas $15.00
  7. J. Mulvaney Plumbling $1,405.50
  8. Veolia Reimbursables July 2018 $27,678.05

-WPCC reviewed the regulations regarding sump pumps/inspection.
