Regular Meeting Minutes
May 24, 2017 – 7:30 p.m.
Town Hall Hearing Room
100 Hill Road, Redding, Connecticut

Present:  Gerry Casiello, Chairman; Amy Atamian, Secretary; Commissioner Ted Ogonek.
Also Present:  Aimee Pardee, Zoning Officer.

REGULAR MEETING:
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

1.  Approval of Minutes:
Regular Meeting of March 22, 2017
The Chairman noted that only two of the commissioners present were present at the March 22nd meeting so discussion of the minutes was tabled until the next meeting.

The Chairman noted that only he was present at the May 10, 2017 meeting so discussion of the minutes was tabled until the next meeting.

2.  Application 17-15Z and 17 -16Z : 26 Goodsell Hill Road (Assessor’s Map and Lot No. 42 – 100) and 30 Goodsell Hill Road (Assessor’s Map and Lot No. 42 – 150): Owner: Thira LLC, Representative Tom Quinn P.E.. Request for a Special Use Permit for earth moving in excess of 300 Cubic Yards.  For receipt/to set public hearing.

The Zoning Officer stated that, although the applicant’s agent had intended to  have this application ready for consideration, no materials had been received.  The commission tabled discussion of this item.

3.  Application 17 – 19Z: 53 Deacon Abbott Road (Assessor’s Map and Lot No. 15 – 55) Owner Gina M. Sinsigalli. Request for a Special Use Permit for an accessory apartment in accordance with Section 5.12 of the Redding Zoning Regulations.  To receive/set public hearing date.

The commission reviewed the application.  There was some discussion regarding the next possible hearing date.  On the motion of Ms. Atamian, and the second of Mr. Ogonek, the commission voted unanimously to accept the application and set the public hearing date for June 14, 2017.

4. Discussion
The Chairman noted that the First Selectman had held an information session regarding the status of the former Gilbert and Bennett property on May 15th.  The commission discussed some of the issues regarding the property, including what areas are contaminated, existing debt structure, and use of the sewer treatment plant.

5. Future Agenda Items
Two public hearings on June 14th: apartments at 81 Sunset Hill Road and 53 Deacon Abbott Road.

6. Communication
There was no discussion under this agenda item.

7. Adjournment
On the motion of Mr. Ogonek, and the second of Ms. Atamian, the commission voted unanimously to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
