Regular Meeting Minutes
June 13, 2018 – 7:30 p.m.
Town Hall Conference Room
100 Hill Road, Redding, Connecticut
Present: Gerry Casiello, Chairman; Amy Atamian, Secretary; Commissioner Ted Ogonek; Commissioner Paul Scholl; Alternate Gary Miyashiro; Alternate Bill Whitehead.
Also Present: Aimee Pardee, Zoning Officer; Applicants Mike Murray and John Campbell.
REGULAR MEETING:
The Chairman seated Mr. Mayashiro for Commissioner Matt Lecher and opened the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
1. Approval of Minutes: Public Hearing & Regular Meeting Minutes of May 9, 2018.
On the motion of Mr. Ogonek and the second of Ms. Atamian, the commission voted by majority to accept the minutes as written. Mr. Mayashiro abstained as he was not seated at the May 9 meeting.
2. Application #18-15Z – 42 Ledgewood Road (Assessor’s Map #43 & Lot #26) – Anna M. Lisciandra Living Trust–Request for a Special Use Permit for Residential Apartment in accordance with Section 5.12 of the Redding Zoning Regulations. For receipt/scheduling of public hearing.
The Commission briefly reviewed the application for completeness. They asked Ms. Pardee for a public hearing date; she explained that the property owner has an offer on her property so the legal notices of the hearing had been run such that the hearing could be held on June 27th. On the motion of Mr. Ogonek and the second of Ms. Atamian, the commission voted unanimously to accept the application and set the public hearing date for June 27, 2018.
3. Application #18-12Z – 101 Marchant Road (Assessor’s Map #12 & Lot #79) – New Pond Farm Foundation. Request for a Site Plan Amendment for construction of an addition to an existing barn; in accordance with Section 5.2 of the Redding Zoning Regulations. For receipt/discussion/possible decision.
Ms. Pardee briefly reviewed the application with the commission. She stated that New Pond Farm wishes to add on to an existing storage barn and she showed the commission the location of the barn
on the farm’s site plan. Mike Murray, Farm Manager for New Pond Farm, explained that there had been a barn in the location of the proposed addition but that it was destroyed during Super Storm Sandy.
The existing barn and the destroyed barn were used for equipment and hay storage; at this time, equipment is being stored outside.
The Chairman noted that the commission has the option to hold a public hearing as New Pond Farm exists by Special Use Permit. The commission discussed the significance of the proposed barn
addition after which Mr. Ogonek moved that a public hearing would not be required. Ms. Atamian seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.
The commission continued discussion of the barn addition, reviewing the floor plans and setbacks.Mr. Ogonek asked about the height of the structure and the floor; Mr. Murray stated the barn would be
About 23’ high and that the barn floor is dirt.
At the conclusion of the discussion, Ms. Atamian moved that the commission approve a Site Plan Amendment 18-12Z to allow for the construction of the barn addition. Mr. Ogonek seconded the
motion and it was carried unanimously.

7. Adjournment
On the motion of Ms. Atamian, and the second of Mr. Ogonek, the commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
