Redding Zoning Commission
Special Meeting – Site Inspection
12 Marchant Road – Assessor’s Map and Lot No. 19-78
5:30 p.m. – April 19, 2022
Present: Matt Lecher, Chairman; Amy Atamian, Secretary; Commissioner Bill Miller; Alternate Gary Miyashiro; Alternate Diana Carlino-Coffey.
Also Present: Aimee Pardee, Zoning Officer; Paul Szymanski, P.E. (Owner’s Agent); Stephen Looney, Property Manager.
Attendees met at the intersection of the existing Marchant Road and Chestnut Woods Road driveways into the property. The group walked along an existing farm road south towards two existing barns. Wetlands, with silt fence protection, were observed to the west of the farm road. The Commission observed the barn farthest to the south on the property inside and out; it was explained that this barn will be used as for indoor riding. The Commission walked behind this barn to observe the grade; the Owner’s Agent showed an area that will be used for equipment storage.
The group then walked to the second barn and looked at the interior, where multiple horses are currently being housed. To the east of that barn, Mr. Szymanski explained that there is a proposed outdoor riding ring, lunge area, and two paddocks. Mr. Szymanski stated that he would provide profiles of the area and a calculation of the amount of material to be moved in that area. It was suggested that erosion control measures should be added to the area since it had already been cleared and stumped. The group walked north to the Chestnut Woods Road driveway, then west concluding the walk at 6:15 p.m.
