Redding Mask Mandate
August 13, 2021

Due to the continued rebound of COVID-19 cases statewide and nationally, Redding has joined forces with neighboring towns (Danbury, Bethel, Ridgefield, Brookfield, and New Fairfield) mandating that everyone must wear masks in all indoor areas open to the public, regardless of vaccine status, where social distancing cannot be maintained. This mandate takes effect Monday August 16th.

This includes municipal buildings, schools, childcare facilities, restaurants (when not eating or drinking), businesses, places of worship, and in work, healthcare, and congregate living settings. This does not apply to outdoor dining and private residences. Business owners are advised to post notices at all entry points to inform the public of the requirement.

The Delta variant has been found to be highly contagious and more easily contracted, especially by children. Wearing a face mask indoors or in large gatherings, along with getting vaccinated, and practicing social distancing remain the most effective mitigation strategies. Please remember that face masks must be worn directly on the face completely covering the nose and mouth.

We will keep an eye on the COVID trends and adjust our policies as needed.
