Enrolling in a Political Party
You may enroll in a party when you register to vote.
You may change party affiliation at any time. Party privileges accrue three months following a change from one party-to another. You cannot vote in a party caucus or primary until these privileges have been earned.
If you are not a member of a political party, you are listed as “Unaffiliated” on the voter lists. A person can enroll in a party at any time but must be cognizant of the registration deadlines.
NOTE: “Unaffiliated” means that you are not a member of any party. This is different from “Independent”. If you would like to be a member of the Independent Party, you must indicate this on your registration.
