TOWN AND REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET REFERENDUM 05-07-24

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2024 – TABULATOR TESTING

The public has the right to be present to inspect the preparation, testing and sealing of the voting equipment. The voting equipment will be set up for the Referendum on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:00pm at the Redding Community Center. NOTE: If this date needs to be changed, we will send out a blast with the Redding News and Announcements system.

TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2024 – REFERENDUM

Who can Vote in Referendum?
All registered voters at least 18 years of age, regardless of party affiliation, and any citizen of the United States of the age of eighteen years or more who, jointly or severally, is liable to the town for taxes assessed against them on an assessment of not less than one thousand dollars on the last-completed grand list can vote in the Referendum on Tuesday, May 7th.

To vote on Tuesday, May 7th, all deadlines must be met.

  • The deadline to register in person is Monday, May 6, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
  • SAME DAY REGISTRATION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REFERENDUM. If you missed the deadline to register, you will not be permitted to vote on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

What is a Referendum?
A referendum is when the voters cast ballots on a proposal, law, budget or issue directly. This is in contrast to an issue being voted on by a representative.

What’s on the ballot on May 7th?
Vote on the Town of Redding and Regional School District budgets for fiscal year 2024-25 and 7 capital expenditures.  Click here to view ballot.

Absentee Ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s Office starting Thursday, April 25, 2024.  Since this referendum is being held with less than 3 weeks notice, absentee ballots CANNOT be mailed.  They must be picked by the voter or by the voter’s designee.  Click here for more information on absentee balloting.

Note: Early Voting is not available for Referendums.
